Talk about rampant ignorance, and I suppose you also believe coffee is a good sleep aid.

    .
Hurricanes get their energy for warm water, cool them off with land and they pretty much stop.
Haiyan was the most powerful storm to hit land in recorded history.
Now go fight for heart healthy transfats and lotsa salt.

Most powerful storm, EVER, given the geologic record, not just “recorded history”. Notable the first “denier” post displays typical total ignorance.

You may be correct, but that does not mean that it has anything to with “global warming”. Global warming is a hoax pushed on us by those (Al Gore) who want to profit from it.

The earth has not warmed at all in over 15 years. The years that warming was happening it was being caused by the sun.

Global warming "is probably the most likely thing that is going to happen . . . that will cripple the security environment, probably more likely than the other scenarios we all often talk about.
“You have the real potential here in the not-too-distant future of nations displaced by rising sea level. Certainly weather patterns are more severe than they have been in the past. We are on super typhoon 27 or 28 this year in the Western Pacific. The average is about 17.”
    - Navy Admiral Samuel J. Locklear III, commander of United States Pacific Command

Eh, you know the military, full of left-wing nutjob treehuggers. Right?
C’mon, let’s keep wringing money out of the poor so our children won’t drown in debt, but not give up a single penny ourselves and let our children drown in higher seas instead.

Fossil fuel corporations make an enormous profit from their lackies casting doubt about climate change. They will continue to make obscene profits while our society delays moving to renewable energy sources and our climate deteriorates. Scientists and Al Gore do not make nearly as much money as do the fossil fuel industries. The fossil fuel industries spend a lot of money to get you to believe the crap you are spouting.

I was responding to a stupid comment with lots and lots of isarcasm.

I figured this thread might be “whack-a-mole” with deniers, but I see you brought the truck sized vacuum cleaner.

I thought ‘gorebal warming’ was what happens when a miniature rhinoceros runs into your crotch.

Come on people….“GOREbal warming”? Big Al? Anybody?

I think the PR has gotten out of hand. What makes you think you can change the climate cycles? The climate has been in flux since there was one. And what about the last 10 years or so with NO warming?

Sure, you can quit being a co2 contributor but you will never stop all the other contributing factors. I think it’s agood idea to find alternative energy BUT I do NOT think it will be beneficial for everyone involved to price the current energy out of range for us “little people”.

But go ahead and close all the coal fired plants in the USA. What effect will that have on the world’s co2 contribution? Well, here is an interesting article.

    http://theenergycollective.com/matstc/228791/our-energy-use-numbers

One thing for sure. If you continue to regulate our energy away BEFORE you have a viable alternative, you will in fact be condemning millions of people young and old to a life where it is a choice. eat or be warm. buy milk for the baby or turn up the furnace in freezing weather. But then you guys only care about your agenda …. not the people you put in the street or outright kill with your policy.

I love how when there is a snow storm that causes a global warming convention to be cancelled, that is just weather and you cannot use that one storm as proof of no global warming (happened more than once). Then the same people say that this one storm in the Philippines is proof that global warming is severe. Hypocrisy at its best.

The article, though interesting, doesn’t really answer the question about coal plants. No one is calling for immediate shutdown of all our coal plants, but we can make them more efficient & less polluting. There’s a cost to that, of course, and the better analysis would try to show if the benefits outweigh the costs.

There’s plenty of coal industry propaganda out there & some very narrow research on the other side. One of the questions anyone should ask, is if they would be ok with an old coal plant upwind from where they live.
