If Montezuma ate a ton of bugs every year, he would have been a geek.

Montezuma II…. a “zoophagous maniac” a la Renfield?

Does that mean Ozzy Osbourne is a geek?

As far as I have seen of late Ozzy is the normal one. Sharon is the Geek! :)

Even if you accept that the statistician is ignoring the expression “food and water” that “one ton of food” every year is dubious.

That’s better than 5 pounds 7 ounces per day, everyday. Not likely.

I’ve worked for some geeks, except they bit the heads off of my co-workers!

Still pretty meaningless without something to compare it to. Like American’s eat one ton of food every year, while those in Sudan eat less than half of that. Or something.

I mean, what’s the point of making the point that “American’s” eat that much, without another country, don’t we all eat just about the same amount? I would expect that to vary a little bit, but not that much.

Americans are turning away from eating food altogether these days – witness the continuing popularity of hamburger chains.

My guess is the statisticians use the word consume to include that eaten as well as what was thrown away…

I don’t doubt it for a minute. The fact is that, yes, they do eat that much. A sad fact is that they spend only half of those calories in energy expended. No question about where the other half goes.

AVERAGE over 5 pounds of food every day? No chance. That has to be wrong.

Done any people watching at Walmart lately? I bet it’s more than a ton a year!
