    The computers in the space shuttles were even older. The laptop I’m typing this on is more powerful.

    I remember back when NASA was buying up all the 386 chips it could get its’ hands on. Intel stop making them in 2007 and NASA needed them so bad they were buying them from any one that had them.

    Computers on board the Apollo flights were similar to those in an originial Texas Instruments basic math calculator.

    Obviously, since that’s when it was placed in orbit. They can’t upgrade the Hubble Telescope’s hardware everytime new technology is available, especially now without the space shuttle. Speaking of which, the avionics on the space shutttles has been compared to the B-52.
