Although I’m a Christian, Christianity sure got screwed up by coming up with patron saints for almost everything. Good thing I don’t worship or pray to them; Jesus Christ is the only one I adore.

Maybe those were supposed to replace the gods that were supposed to protect every place.
Maybe … that’s why I don’t believe in religion … it seems like every religion borrows from every other. Christianity borrowed from Judaism, Judaism from Zorostarism … etc.

I wonder when Paul Bunyan plans to come by to pick up his golf tee.

The golf tee sure doesn’t look 30 feet “tall” to me—maybe 30 feet “long” in that position. Judging by the man standing next to it, I’d say maybe 5 feet tall.

Organized religion is used by those that believe they are in charge to keep small minded people organized and under control. Without it, those that cannot control themselves would run wild and “chaos” would result. Think back to when “they” tried to ram “god”(whichever one) down your throat- it was to try and give you “values” so you would become a contributing member of their society. It didn’t work on me- it only made me wonder why they were trying to force me to blindly submit to their BS. Small minded people desperately want to believe there is more to “life” than exsisting for about 70 or 80 revolutions of this insignificant rock around this non-descript , smallish sun, in the middle of nowhere. How arrogant is it to believe your “exsistence” means more than any of the other biological infestations on this rock?

“…….Organized religion is used by those that believe they are in charge to keep small minded people organized and under control…….. "

I’ve pondered over the years about the reasons people have for believing in a
god. I have figured out that the moment you’re born, the brainwashing starts. It would naturally follow that when you become an adult, it’s so ingrained into your very being that you simply can’t disbelieve. Some of us are resistant to that brainwashing and we find ourselves in a category called atheist.
I am also inclined to believe that religion came into being because people have loved ones, and they want to believe they are going to a ‘better place’ when they die. That makes it easier to accept their loss.
Atheists are no better and no worse than
‘believers’ — it just turns out that we were immune to brainwashing.
