    Is this comic now set in the 70’s? Purina did those Chuck Wagon TV ads in that decade.

    This comic is set in the late sixties opr early seventies. You can tell by the cars driven, TV commercials, Red’s obsession with space, etc.

    : D I remember that commercial! And my dog (Cokey, the best dog ever) loved it, too – she’d bark like crazy and run up to the TV screen, and then run around behind it, as if she could catch those horses!

    I was around Red’s age at that time so in a way this is almost semiautobiographical. But I didn’t have a dog most of the time and spent most of it reading or drawing.
