Hey kids, if you get a chance check out Mr. Gigi and the Squid. T Lewis and Todd Clark (Over the Hedge and Lola) are the creators. Looks like it may be fun.

My friends always called “punch buggy.” We now also call “air” or “water,” too, referring to the cooling system of the VW. The classic Beetle’s engine was air-cooled, while the new version is liquid (water) cooled.

Nice rendition of a oval-window Beetle! They were made from March 1953 – August 1957.

I remember the split rear windows which were older. My family had ’61 and ’70 bugs, the ’70 was auto-stick.

We had a ’55 cabriolet (hand operated convertible). It was the only VW I ever saw that had little arms that swung out from the side for turn signals. (They were disconnected to comply with the CA vehicle code).

in the summer, hair could either grow or you could get a buzz cut…my brothers always let it grow … that is, until they were drafted and the service gave them thier buzz cuts for free before shipping them off to Viet Nam….

His hair isn’t any longer, he’s simply looking up giving the illusion of longer hair. Also it’s no longer the 1920s, this strip takes place in the 60s or 70s; get over the hair even if it was long. And the original Beetle was made until 2003.
