    LOL – went through packs of playing cards doing this as a kid!

    My mother eventually found why cards were missing out of the family deck of playing cards! She was not as amused as I was.

    What was Mickey Mantle’s favorite inning? The bottom of the fifth! ;-)

    I did this but I used any type of cardboard I could fine. Not my baseball cards.

    @AshburnStadium

    I thought it was the top of the fifth. At least that way you can look forward to getting to the bottom of it.

    What a waste of I’m sure what is now a valuable baseball card.

    Oh well, his mother would have thrown out his baseball cards when he went away to college anyway. And his comics…

    If everyone had saved all of their baseball cards and comics they wouldn’t have any value now.

    Is this a rerun strip like Peanuts? Today, I suspect that a Mickey Mantle card would be worth serious bucks and not something to stick into your spokes.

    @edrush

    This strip is set in the late 60’s , early 70’s. Red has a crush on Marcia Brady and loves watching the original Star Trek among other shows of the period. But these are no reruns.

    Red hasn’t written to Marcia lately. Could it be that the romance is over? :-)

    Thanks, Grog. Remember when you could say “switch hitter” without it being considered bedroom humor? Better days…

    I would never use a star’s baseball card in my bicycle spokes back when I was a kid. Scrubs only, and you easily got a dozen Jim Kremmell or Carmen Fanzone cards for every Ron Santo.
