Gunther is too much like Bernice for her to appreciate him. They’re both just starting to grow beyond the good girl/boy persona that they’ve always had and are beginning to explore the world as adults. Gunther had Rosa as a step towards breaking out of that role. Bernice hasn’t had anyone yet and is drawn to Piro for that reason. OR it’s a comic strip. One or the other.

First time I’ve felt the need to post. Gunther is not a wimp for not following Rosa’s dream. She’s doing what she’s passionate about which is excellent for her, but Gunther needs to live his own life. I admire Mr Evans for having him try something new, but here is no shame in taking another path when you find that you’re traveling a road that isn’t suitable. If their paths should cross in the future, their relationship will be much stronger for them both pursuing their personal strengths.
