Cynicism is never a substitute for real data. The teachers I see today, K-12 and college, seem to be much better at handling “thinking outside the box” then the ones I knew growing up. Anecdotal data to be sure, but a large amount of it.

Actually, a better (and more positive) story is “The Sound of Summer Running”, which I think captures the “Frazz spirit” better.

I continue to be baffled by the (seemingly) angry responses to Mallet’s gentle teasing of ourselves — for Caulfield is truly Everyman, and Frazz our (sometimes) wiser self. Remark? Retort? It matters? I don’t see it. Wake up and smell the love.

It’s actually worse than that, because there are “words” that are both acronym and initialism, e.g. “MS-DOS”. :-)

Actually, the latter number is 2 years, not 4, and in practice it was even less than that. Nonetheless, during Obama’s administration, the discretionary (non mandated) VA budget rose between 36 and 61%, depending on how you figure it (full range, worst to best interpretation. Remember that the real point of Frazz, as a ‘comic’… is to MAKE US QUESTION OURSELVES! Not to trot out answers. I used to think I knew what “fair” meant. Now I see big gaping holes in each of my concepts. That’s… oddly… an improvement.
