I’m not sure what the point was intended to be, but I try to remember as often as possible to thank someone who provided me a service. I won’t buy into the, “I pay their salary,” attitude. Someone took pride in their work and treated me respectfully. They should know it’s appreciated.
Someone’s getting paid back for cutting Luann’s hair after she was expressly told not to. Life lesson, Shannon. It’s not fun when people ignore your wishes, isn’t it?
I get what this event is referencing. I realize they’re just cartoons and not real people. It’s still a creepy thing to depict, without at least showing the character being smacked or pepper sprayed.
For me, Dez remains the one of the few likable characters. She tried to be kind, Betts was snotty about it. Betts criticized her ways and told her to just say what she means, Dez delivered. The bluntness came only after it was requested.
One person is saying, “You made a difficult choice. It’s understandable that you’re struggling and I’d like to help.” The other one is saying, “I find your approach to life boring on mundane.” One is being kind, the other is being insulting. Expressing one’s honest opinion doesn’t mean it’s not rude.
I thought that was surprisingly clever, considering what usually passes for funny wordplay.
