What the Bible says and what people DO are two different things and yes, the majority of mass murderers in the US would claim to be Christian or at the very least to have been brought up in a Christian environment. Jim Jones, Jeffrey Dahmer. Scott, I don’t think you understand how rank works in the military. If no one above the rank of corporal works on the wounded, they are doomed. Doctors are ranked that highly for a reason and they are commissioned, not enlisted. If you’re saying that they shouldn’t give doctors commissions, well, I think most doctors would turn down military service altogether.

Thank you Charlie for your retraction. I still don’t agree with you assessment but I appreciate your recognition of how insensitive that may have seemed.

I’ll say it again: As much of a surprise as it was for Obama to win, it’s mostly because he didn’t lobby for it and we here in the states didn’t hear much about it. But as the chairman said, who has done MORE for world peace over the last year, even if it is mostly just changing the tone? Also, I could even accept the argument that this year’s field was weak because I’ll bet you didn’t know ANY of the other front-runners for the prize. But you’d rather have some anonymous person that you know nothing about win than the president. It’s like winning the Oscar. It’s easy to say “so and so should have won an Oscar” but until you look and see who they were up against and whose Oscar should be taken away, it’s just talk. So who SHOULD have won this year?

Wtf is an “affirmative action Nobel Prize?” Of course, that’s not racist because that would be playing the race card. As much of a surprise as it was for Obama to win, it’s mostly because he didn’t lobby for it and we here in the states didn’t hear much about it. But as the chairman said, who has done MORE for world peace over the last year, even if it is mostly just changing the tone? I don’t know….I think Obama was humbled and grateful to receive the award and it might just make his job easier. Every once in a while even the president needs for someone to say “you’re on the right track, guy” to give him the incentive and motivation to keep going in the face of all the opposition he gets daily.

Excellent cartoon….I support our president but this is one of the things he was elected to do and has not kept his word on yet. It’s a shame how people can’t see how Guantanamo damages us. How can we really be seen as the leader of the free world when we do things like that?

Why do so many people from the right hate our country and our Constitution? It says clearly in the preamble that one of the goals is to “promote the general welfare” of its people. It isn’t to make sure that the rich can stay rich.

Historically, things like that have been said about almost anyone that tried to register black voters in the deep south.

“The best health care in the world” is only according to those against the health care reform that refuse to face facts. Every objective analysis leaves us somewhere in double digits. I think the WHO ranked us 37th. It’s one of those things where some republicans think if they say it loud enough and long enough people will believe it.
