Read some real history books. The southern Democrats formed the KKK & fought to maintain slavery. As politicians, they re-wrote (lied) history to say they were the saviours.

Flagged for falsehood. Cite for me when that EVER was part of the Republican credo.

Answer: only in a deranged liberal’s mind, and that phrase is often a redundancy.

Oh, tell me, too, how’s that “War on Poverty” from the “Great Society” working out for you, all the way back from LBJ days?

Dear ReFlex76, you err. Only Strom Thurmond became a republican. The rest of your Southern democrats simply died off. Then the Henry Wallace democrats were ascendant, thus alienating thinkers everywhere.

You are a bad historian too. The D’s and R’s have switched sides so technically the Democrats are the Party of Lincoln now.

Not just Thurmond, but all the Dixiecrats, became Dixiepulicans. Only Byrd remained and he swore off the KKK and racism and rehabilitated.
