    I sometimes wear a five o’clock to help me look older; don’t want to be mistaken as a teenager.

    I can not wait for that look to go out of style…It is so ugly…Most of the men who wear, whatever you call it now a days..look like a cave man…There are very very few that can get away with it, maybe Beckham…but none with black hair, for sure…I can’t figure out what it is supposed to be…They sure can not think they look better or manly, or whatever…Guess again…

    Yet 5 o’clock shadow is quite acceptable on a woman. There she is, covered with feathers; criticising a dog for having facial hair.

    Hugh Laurie’s character, Dr. Gregory House, was bad enough with that arrogant persona, but coupled with that grungy beard-face, he was just insufferable.

    @FlyerTom

    Y’know, I was torn about Dr. House’s grungy look. I’m sure a lot of thought was put into how his character should look. Smooth shaven? indicates Dr. House is concerned about ‘looking good’, or has a grooming routine – some days, it seems he’s lucky to show up at work at all, never mind taking time to shave!….Beard? people don’t like beards Give Dr. House a beard and it turns viewers off (and also, a beard needs SOME maintenance, too). So the almost-beard, grungy, but neither one thing or the other (and I understand this look takes some tending, also, lol) was the way to go. Grungy. Edgy.

    Though I do know that some guys tend to go a day or two to give their faces a chance to rest.
    I don’t ever however remember my dad doing that. He was very insistent in being clean shaven for any and all things he had to go to.

    I dislike shaving so I only do it 2 or 3 times a week. That’s my reason. Don’t care about anyone’s standards but my own.

    It’s the first step down a slippery slope to a neck-beard.

    The problem is that the majority of women find that look sexy. As a male I would want female attention but not at that cost. So I remain clean shaven. I don’t like beards anyway.
