Way back in my day everybody grew their hair long, even the women.

I remember being able to get a shave, haircut from the barber, and a shoeshine while you were waiting. Cost more than 2 bits for the shave and a haircut, but that was before AIDS and HIV. Even when I had long(er) hair, I still got haircuts to keep it lookin neat.

There was a day when two bits had more value. The inflation created by the spending of politicians ruined that.

The people who complain the most, always seem to be first in line for the handouts.

Back in the late 1800s, most men did not shave. That was a lot more economical.

I go back far enough to remember always getting a “singe” at the end of my haircut. The barber used a “taper” (a long thin lit candle) to burn the ends of my hair. It made the place smell like someone had set a chicken on fire.

Yukonaric: That’s the way I learned it, but even I am not old enough to remember when that was the price. It was at least a whole dollar.
