I grew up in San Francisco and yes it’s possible to have to walk up hill to school both ways. Heck I still walk to work up hill both ways.

Today’s pups don’t know how good they have it with their X-Box360’s and Playstation III’s. When I was a pup, I had an Atari 2600 and later a Nintendo NES and I liked it! It also never occurred to me to bring it with me on vacation. I could do just fine without it for a few days.

When I was a pup nobody in our 84 person mountain town had a telephone and our only “electric” source of amusment was AM radio/ Even IF you could afford a TV there was no TV reception there.

I was lucky. the metro area I grew up in didn’t really start to get heavily developed till I was in my 4th grade. meaning we had the woods on either side of the street I grew up on to play in. as well as a minor swamp to the south where there are now apartments.

I love remotes but I do find it funny that we talk about fitness but complain when we can’t find the remote to change the channel a couple of feet away. All that getting up an down is good for the legs and abs.

I miss the days when I was healthy and could afford to have a car. But I could be worse off, I could be walking up hill both ways!

I still have both my Atari 2600 and Nintendo game systems and enjoy playing them every now and then when I find the time. Really takes me back to my youth! (And I never took them on vacation with me either. Too many interesting sights to see during the day and I had books to read at night. Those were the days!!!!!)

Except that any more these days, there are no controls on the TV itself; without a remote, you’re stuck. Now, you could be stuck with a TV you can’t turn on; and that’s not always bad.
