I wonder how do Long John Silver, Captain Ahab and Josh Sundquist get out of such situations.

What is it about women that makes them drag their unwilling partner to places where he is useless, and humiliate him by insisting he hold her handbag?

Fabric stores need to have a pub, then the men would go all the time. I don’t like my hubby going, I have to hurry and find what I want. I like to take my time . On the other hand I don’t like going hopping with him. So I guess we are even.

That story may work with your grandchild but not with your wife

It’s OK there’s a pub across the street, and Andy’s waiting for you to buy a pint…

Years ago, the grocery stores in New Orleans had a beer bar with a big TV. All the hubbies would have a mug & watch TV while their wives shopped. There were no booths or tables so it wasn’t a place to spend time.

I guess some people like to spend time together, no matter what the activity is. My mom and dad used to square dance. My mom made all her special skirts and the matching shirts for my dad. I don’t know if he helped pick out the material but I DO know those were some great times for them both.
My dad was never a dancer. My mother was a ballerina. She talked him into the square dancing thing. He said he was glad he listened to her. They took lessons and joined a club. They made a lot of friends traveling to competitions all over the state. Mom’s gone now and dad is in frail health. He’d gladly take her wherever he could, just to spend time with her.

Hubby will never have to worry about me going to a fabric store. I have no clue how to make clothes right way. Never found a teacher who could explain to me the right way and lost interest. Now I just mend if needed.

Close to husband side. His brother when alive never went square dancing ever with his wife, they go to lake a lot either swim or boating. When he died of short battle of cancer. His widow did take up square dancing and year later met her future husband and they both go square dancing.
My own husband has no desire for square dancing or going walking. My daughter and I go walking with two dogs.
