Our cat can hear a tin of cat food being opened in the kitchen from out in the back yard.

Years ago my folks would daily open a can of tuna for their four cats.

I recorded the sound of a can being opened and ran it. The cats came on cue.

My dog won’t eat food off the floor. I have to pick it up and hand it to her. The only sound that gets her excited is the sound of an individual cheese wrapper.

One of our mutts can hear scritches being given; even when she’s out back and I’m in my office upstairs with another of our dogs.

I only have two 55 gal. fish tanks I clean the filter once a month. They can’t hear food, but they can see me heading toward the tank and reaching for their food. They go nuts.

My dogs eat anything that remorely looks/smells good. They often lick where stuff spills on the floor LONG after it looks clean to me!

We fed our dogs in an old hub cap.
    Dry dog food.
A neighbor gave Mama a miniature dachshund.
I took him to the hub cap and dumped in a coffee can of dry dog food for him.
Snoopy looked, sniffed and then stared at me accusingly. "You expect ME to eat THAT?
The other dogs turned the corner, converged on the hub cap, and licked it completely clean in 4.7 seconds. Then they left.
Snoopy returned to the empty feed place in shock.
I scooped up another can of feed and dumped it too.
The thundering horde returned, only to be driven back by the transformed food-snob.
The next day, Mrs. Bush called me to inform me, “Snoopy only eats Alpo canned dog food.”
“No, ma’am, Snoopy eats anything to keep the other dogs from getting it.”

Amazing coincidence (and that’s all it is, folks, I know these strips are created far in advance) that this strip appears on the same day Los Angeles suffers a level 4 earthquake.

A little speed bump, that’s all today’s “quake” was. I can’t believe all the fuss the news is making over it. Northridge in 1994? Now THAT was a near-death experience!

Our dog can hear one crumb of food from two floors away! And he will run directly to where it hit the floor when he hears it.

JPuzzleWhiz: 4 is mild for California. I went through at 4.3 in Vancouver and the kids slept through it. On the other hand, 4.3 was the record in Texas until they started fracking the Eagle Ford shale, and now it has been broken a few times.
