Funny story about Tom Baker’s scarf. The BBC hired some frumpy old knitter to knit the thing and gave her some yarn. They didn’t tell her how long to make it, so she used all the yarn up and the thing ended up 14 ft. long.

Use to have one of those scarves. Lost it unfortunately in a move. I miss it.

I had to stop watching Dr. Who after Tom left the series. The ones that have replaced him just aren’t the same; kinda like all those who came after Sean Connery and the Bond shows.

@Jungfrau
I grew up with Pertwee and Baker and know what you mean.

Patrick McGoohan turned down the role of James Bond (he also turned down The Saint) and suggested Sean Connery after having worked with him in 1957 on the brilliant movie Hell Drivers.

It’s not only a scarf, it’s a blanket.

@Dampwaffle: was she frumpy? Was she old? Was she actually a she? There are a lot of wrong stereotypes about knitters; I’m just curious.

I’m surprised that the cat hasn’t gotten on to the scarf.
