You mean like cartoons where a very visibly straining Bugs Bunny is able to lift a weight labeled 500lb and he probably weighs 5 to 10lb himself? Or maybe the amazing Mystery Machine which in some episodes is much larger on the inside than on the outside. Cartoon physics are very unbelievable because they don’t rely on real physics.

Fred’s problem begins with his lack of assertiveness. He allows Rat to shove him around. Also, Mr. Purple Suit….
Sherlock Watson has a good idea for a seven per cent solution….

Here’s a fruit salad for you, Rat.

From: “The Knox Make it happen Recipe Book”

Published by: Thomas J. Lipton, Limited.
    2180 Yonge Street,
    Toronto, Ontario

Publication date: Unknown; prior to 1972 as there is no postal code.

2 envelopes Knox Unflavoured Gelatine (two tablespoons)
    2 cups ginger ale, divided
    1/8 teaspoon salt
1 grapefruit, peeled, sectioned and diced
1 orange, peeled, sectioned and diced
1 can (14 oz.) pineapple pieces in juice, drained
    2 cups halved, seedless grapes
    1 tablespoon preserved ginger, chopped

    1)    Sprinkle Knox Gelatine over 1/2 cup ginger ale in saucepan.
    2)    Place over low heat; stir constantly until gelatin dissolves – about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in salt and remaining 1 1/2 cups ginger ale. Chill to consistency of unbeaten egg white.
    3)    Stir in grapefruit, orange, pineapple, grapes and ginger.
    4)    Turn into 5-cup mould; chill until set. Unmould onto escarole (a variety of endive) or leaf lettuce.

    Makes 8 to 10 servings.

Ever see the movie “King Rat” (1965, George Segal) or read the novel?

I’ve posted some information over at Calvin and Hobbes today on the recent collaboration between Stephan Pastis and Bill Watterson, where Watterson drew some of the artwork for three Pearls Before Swine strips.

If you are a good party host, you plan for a couple of guests to show up who forgot to RSVP or had last minute change of plans. :) That is life.

This isn’t a cartoon — it’s a window into an alternate universe; where the laws of physics are very different from those in this universe.
