At its heart, Pearls Before Swine is the comic strip tale of two friends: an arrogant Rat who thinks he knows it all and a slow-witted Pig who doesn't know any better. Together, this pair offers caustic commentary on humanity's quest for the unattainable. Dilbert cartoonist Scott Adams says that Pearls is "one of the few comics that make me laugh out loud." The strip has twice won the National Cartoonists Society's Reuben division award for Best Newspaper Comic Strip – in 2003 and in 2006.

There was one a while back in which Goat said to Rat: “Would you turn a friend in for money or personal gain?” Rat replied: “For money.” At Goat’s exasperated expression Rat commented: “Sorry, I thought it was a multiple choice questions.”
Here we see Rat’s ideologies alive and thriving.

Rat never was particularly well disposed toward Andy—or, indeed, toward anyone but himself! Pig, this is your moment: to the rescue!

“Andy, Rat says you’re worth $5K to him. How much so I don’t give him your google Earth coords?”

There was another strip in which the Crocs offer Pig fifty silver coins to betray Zebra. Pig of course turns them down, and remarks to Rat what bad guys the Crocs are, at which point we see Rat counting his stack of silver coins.
