Silly Rat — that’s not the way to pick up a woman!

Rat could move to Antarctica, where he’d feel right at home.

… lucky for Pastis this was Rat … had it been any other character, Rat would be in his office with a baseball bat over the severity of that pun …

I am pleasantly surprised that Rat was so quick to engage in practical experimentation!

Is Goat British? Most Americans would have said “overseas”. Yes, I know, it’s for the purpose of the pun—and besides Rat wouldn’t know what “abroad” meant, aside from wimmin.

Ok. I get the pun but what I don’t get is Goat’s initial remark. How will moving out of the country help one’s MOOD? We live in the greatest country on the planet!

@ orinoco: I’m American, and I say “abroad”. As in … “I once studied abroad. She slapped me, though.”
