    Could be worse … she could be going to a Catholic school (of that period), where she would probably be paddled with a yard stick, a ruler or a bench brush (or whatever was handy at the moment) …. from my own personal experiece!

    Didn’t get beaten at Catholic school, but Mother Superior said that I will not go to heaven because I questioned the infallibility of the pope

    This is a storyline I don’t think would have happened by the ’80s. Sally would still freak out about things, but became more contrary over time.
