    Why didn’t leave Woodstock in the yellow color we have seen it for the last 40 years?

    Maybe because that is not Woodstock. There are often a lot of other birds in this comic strip.

    Because this strip is dated 1966, and Woodstock didn’t appear until 1967.

    I don’t understand. I always thought Schulz named Woodstock after the Festival, 1969. So…

    The blue birds of older strips slowly evolved into Woodstock, this one has the trademark crest of fuzzy feathers. Snoopy needed a sidekick but he was slow in arriving.

    Woodstock didn’t debut until about 1970, and this strip is from 1966.

    Schulz managed to wonderfully capture the haphazard fluttering of a young bird…very cute.

    Woodstock was actually introduced as Snoopy’s sidekick around 1967, but he wasn’t given a name until 1970. So yes, he was named after the music festival even though he first appeared in the comic strip before it happened.
