    In fact, the average WWI fighter pilot rarely had a chance to bail out at all. Usually the best he could hope for was to land the plane in an open field.

    OK, so flight school took up the 1st week, and shipping over probably took the 2nd week, so, ummm, who changed the pilot’s diapers during this time . . . ?
