If ever there is an iconic comic strip, it is Peanuts. What began in the funny pages in 1950 has developed into an enduring classic. Whether you're persnickety like Lucy, a philosopher like Linus, a joyous Flying Ace like Snoopy, or a lovable underdog like Charlie Brown, there is something to touch your heart or make you laugh in Peanuts.

Oh well, just make a jam sandwich….you know, two slices of bread jammed together…hahahahahahaha

We always used to eat the sugar sandwich: a slice of bread spread with margarine (mom didn’t buy butter) and coated with sugar. Cinnamon optional. We would pour about 2 Tablespoons of sugar on the buttered surface and then shake it gradually down to get an even, thick coating. No wonder my brother was diagnosed as hyperactive!

The bread itself I really don’t appreciate the taste

My mother used to make me “Butterfly Toast”: Toast with margarine & brown-sugar-cinnamon, cut in an X, putting the opposite parts together to make 2 butterflies. I make butterfly toast for my daughters now and they love it (particularly my younger one, whose nickname is “Butterfly”).

But, Linus, you forgot about the peanut butter!

A bread and butter sandwich is much better anyway.

The first has some joke hidden in there somewhere, and the second makes me hungrier.

It isn’t my stomach that wants it, it’s my mouth. My stomach can’t taste anything and doesn’t care what I send down.

That goes for anything. Once I got myself all hungry for a few slices of pizza, then found out there was no pizza left in the freezer. :(

Yup, I just did this a few min ago. I was looking forward to toast with jelly, but the actual amount of jelly I had was so miniscule it wouldn’t be enough to fill one half of a piece of toast, so I just went with peanut butter.

I know how Linus feels; there’s been times I’ll get a craving for something and discover that someone has beaten me to the punch.

Um. Don’t they have recycling bins or tras cans to throw empty jars in? If it’s being reused, why not put it somewhere where people won’t be deceived into wanting something they can’t have? Lol

@Aaron Saltzer
Trash cans in 1966, yes. Recycling bins came years later. In fact where I grew up in the Midwest, not until the mid 1980s, and where I live now (S. Europe) they weren’t common until about 10 years ago. Maybe Linus also has family members who put an empty jar back in the cupboard or fridge rather than tossing it. We all know someone who carefully puts the milkjug back when it contains all of a tablespoon.
