And yet, Assad and Russia blinked and are offering to turn over all chemical weapons to international groups. No matter how many times you all slam Obama, the end result is usually good.

The world is having a great laugh right now at Barry’s failed attempt at international diplomacy.
Now tyrants know that they can pretty much do what they want and Barry will make some empty threats, take a poll, ask Congress and eventually do nothing.
    Hooray for WMD’s!

Yeah tell the world what you are going to do. Truth is Iran is supplying arms, to Syria and Iran, this will not end till we do something about Iran.

Do you REALLY think the US can stop arms shipments between countries, whether friends or enemies of ours? War, and weapons, are big business.

And remember, the UN passed a resolution to try to stop those very shipments. Only three countries refused to agree: Iran, Syria, and the United States. Pretty good company, wouldn’t you say? Hey, but at least we’re keeping the UN from running our country…..

I am, and I remember now that N. Korea was one of the countries who voted against. Thank you for reminding me. I am puzzled: I was sure the US voted against, precisely because the paranoia in Congress that, although the resolution specifically stated that there was no intent to regulate weapons within countries, many believed that the UN would make the US subservient.

I have tried to research the vote, to no avail. Thank you for your correction regarding North Korea. If you can provide me with a link to the vote, I would very much appreciate it, and apologize if I am wrong.

The US opposed the UN Arms Treaty until 2009. The NRA still opposes it.

Has their opposition been"punk’d"? It IS interesting that the whole international community, even Israel, has suddenly awakened, and is looking at a solution that strikes me as far more consistent with Obama’s real position for decades, that force should only be a last resort, not the first option. I think Obama and Kerry might be using Putin, and not the other way round.

Assad won’t agree so it’s really a moot point. I still predict a “surgical strike”, which will have about as much impact as a waterlogged thorn from a waterlogged rose.

“If you use chemical weapons on innocent civilians, I will have to think deeply, pretend I’m gonna respond, then 3 weeks later ask Congress to make a decision for me and then ultimately do nothing”.
I’m sure Iran and N Korea got the message loud and clear!

At least Kerry fought in one of our wars unlike GW Bush, Cheney, Rummy, Romney, Boehner and most prominant republicans.
