Over the Hedge, created by T Lewis and Michael Fry, takes a freshly skewed look at suburban living from the perspective of the animals who lived there first. The strip stars RJ, a mischievous raccoon, and Verne, his sensitive best-buddy turtle. Together they fight to save their wooded wonderland from the evils of encroaching suburbia but end up becoming distracted by wide-screen TVs, discarded fast food containers and the fun of wreaking havoc on the local homeowners' association.

I wood say that with Hammy’s head so full of straw it can make him as thick as a brick.

Hoodwinked had a wolf character who turned out to be a good guy.
Stories about wolves hearken back to Europe, where wolves began attacking humans when food became scarce.(according to one source I read.)

wolves became domesticated dogs that we use as pets and helpers.

re: vdualnomand
Apparently so did coyotes and foxes.
Wolves occasionally attack people in North America, but it’s not as common as Europe.
During the warm half of the year, about every week there is a cougar incident, whether an attack or a cougar menacing someone, but is driven off.

Untrue. Sammy’s naive, but smart and creative. His tribute to 9/11 and the twin towers with the butterflies on the tenth anniversary was one of the most brilliant strips I have seen.

Thanks. And obviously I meant Hammy. I wonder how the original Sammy is doing in the parallel world.

I was attacked by a cougar this summer. She bit, snarled, howled …

Nope, still boring. Sorry, Hammy.
But really, any critter can be the hero of a story as long as something provides the conflict.

Wolf attack is not as common in Europe because of the concerted effort to kill them off over the years. The US put them on the endangered list, which still angers people in their habitat area because they feel sheep and cattle are at risk; OTOH without wolves some of the small prey animals like rabbits start overpopulating. You can’t change just one thing. :-)

I think Wolves are cool! Very loving parents to their pups.
Also, been watching “Game of Thrones”, and THERE are some very cool Wolves!

According to legend, a wolf raised Romulus and Remus, who founded Rome.

When I was young (-er?) I hoped to be engaged by a cougar. Hopefully a good looking one. Unfortunately none of the caught the hook. Beyotches.
