The fact she knows the door’s locked indicates she tries to open it. In which case, IT’S LUCKY IT’S LOCKED!!! (You do want a baby sister, don’t you Ruthie?!)

Doors all need locks when there are children in the house.

My parents were opposed to ME keeping my bedroom door locked (“You might have a seizure or something when you were in there and need help!”) but they were very indignant when I needed to see them one evening and I discovered THEIR door was locked and I shouted through it “Are you guys all right? Are you having a seizure!”

When I was younger, one of my favorite “sucker” jokes was when I’d say to someone, “I think there’s something in your hair,” and when they reached up to check, I’d say, “It looks like a hand!”
