    re: margaritem

    AMEN!

I’ve had lymes twice and babeosis once. (When with the USFS in 1988, in college in 1998, and in 2002 with NMFS)
    .
Ticks essentially exist to spread disease. Lizards will sometimes eat them, but as a food source, they are inconsequential. Wonder if we could engineer a virus that only affects ticks? Wouldn’t get them all, but it might thin them out considerably.

    Bruno — that’s the shin they’re digging… it’s just a bit plump.

Hope they don’t kill the fatted calf.

The ticks climbed up his sock.
His leg did swell, he didn’t feel well
Now his ashes are in a crock.

Sorry, I thought the shin was the side of the foot!
Maybe I should Google before I nitpick!

You know you’ve spent time in northern Calfornia when you realize that you automatically look down every time a shrub brushes your pants. (And wear light colored pants so the little armies show up and can be removed before they get ideas. Wasn’t uncommon to find three or four ticks just from brushing a grass blade. The shorts fad had some real consequences with tourists not realizing they needed pants in the forest.)
