Since you haven’t found Moby Tom in 30 years, Herman, you had better have a back-up meal planned.

Another reason to not have a phone. I do not want my whereabouts known like that.

Doesn’t the GPS system work even if the phone is off? Granted if the display is off the GPS transponder should still work by letting the NSA’s Spy Sats, er I mean Google’s Sats, er IRS’s Sats track the phone’s movement. Think I read that the GPS is always on until the power source is depleted or removed.

No, the GPS does not work if the phone is actually switched off, not to be confused with “sleeping” in which case it periodically and briefly switches on to “touch base” with the various networks – 3G/4G, WiFi, Bluetooth and such.
The problem with this particular suggestion is that whilst the GPS service, being satellite, is dependent only on access to satellites which is to say, the sky, so that Danae could still navigate by latitude and longitude, being out of 3G range means that neither can she contact anyone, nor can Jeffrey discover any information about her – even if her phone is on.
The only limitation on the GPS is that you require to have maps either loaded on the phone, or immediately available from the ’net, or memory in some form, of your home coordinates.

Danae is lost because her Garmin is busted. Moby-Tom isn’t lost because he uses TomTom.

unless you take the battery out, they can still track your phone. so Danae can still be “found” lol. just like the NSA does. comfort knowing eh?

He won’t because he’s with the Moby-Hendersons. Anybody remember that movie? That’s okay, I never watched it either.
