Speaking of ‘irony’ - add Fe to male and you get……
female. Now that’s adding a little strength the the discussion of male vs. female. However, a femisnist would say ‘see, we are stronger’. A more accurate assessment would be that a woman needs to take iron to make the sides even.

Well, Dawkins’ great “sin” is being outspoken against religion. That’s considered taboo in our culture where we’re supposed to show “respect” for people’s beliefs, no matter how outlandish they are, or how much extremists are trying to control others using them. If you criticize religion, then you must be close-minded. Dawkins’ is the ultimate in open-minded… he will consider any belief, provided there is evidence for it. Which pretty much rules out all the god(s).

@revtry – Assuming you’re not trolling or just demonstrating the point of the today’s comic, it takes a lot of work to ignore that mountain of evidence, doesn’t it? Especially considering you can actually observe it happening. Evolution is absolutely as true as the world is round. Denying evolution is intellectually the same as believing the Earth is flat.

If evolution is true, our politicians will get wings. Oh, they already have that. The east wing and the west wing of the white house…..

    la la la la la……..

They were born with wings, so no evolution there.

Just trying to calm the storm.

However, it is nice that evidence of a worldwide flood and judgment was kept for our observance in every ‘mountain range/canyons nearby ’ area on earth. Reminders are good. And good thing there are still monkeys so I know I and they are not the same. I think I will check my refridgerator to see if the bacteria has yet turned into monkeys. Or would it be fish before monkeys?

EEEK -there’s fish in my freezer…Oh, caught those last year. Whew - I almost changed my mind.

la la la la la la………

Don’t let em scare you, revrty. I was just advised to ‘play nice’ on this site. Try to keep a little humor in the mix, as it is a comic section. Maybe we can all find some degree of humor in the other side - and run like crazy with the batton. Or is it baton? That stick they pass along in a race - what’s the right spelling?

That last move was a trick I learned from a doctor who tried to get my mind off of a hemmoroid lance by saying he like my sandals just before……. well, you know.

I think the earth is flat now.

Again: Science says NOTHING about God’s role in the creation or development of life – it neither supports NOR refutes it. “Evolution” is a description of an observable mechanism. It no more challenges religious faith than the equations engineers use to guide a spacecraft or predict the stresses a building can tolerate.

  21. plus4

    plus4 said, 5 months ago

Nairebis - I’ll bet you don’t even know what people believe who don’t accept evolutionism. You accuse them of ignorance because you think they think things they don’t really think.

Very basically, “evolution” would not be just any change, like fish losing eyes (a loss), and it’s not just adaptation or selection, as with antibiotic resistance. It would have to be the addition of a new feature, or something becoming something it truly wasn’t before. That’s what there is no observation or evidence of.

In real life, “pre-conceptual” scientists like evolutionists do not ignore evidence like Danae does. Instead, they find a way to steer it in the direction they want it to go, even though it would never go there on its own.

If you think evolution is proven or observed, or that “all scientists” agree on it, you (like most people) have a LOT to learn. I hope you make the effort.

Regarding Dawkins: It’s very clear that he has a lot of anger against religion, and from what I understand he has experienced I don’t blame him. The problem his, he has rejected “God” because of what an obviously false representative of “God” did – thus ironically joining the very team he should be opposing.

There is a lot of anger in Dawkins arguments, and many easily recognizable logical fallacies. But there is not sound logic or proof. He outrageously overrates his words if he thinks they are compelling enough to give pause to those who don’t already agree with him.

How do you’all like my beard? its really a bunch of bees if you look close. It used to be hair, but then I waited a really long time and it turned into bees when I wouldn’t let anyone trim it.

I changed my photo yesterday, but it happened to fit well into today’s now very tedious discussion. I think I’m going for a bike ride to see the wheels go round and round, and because the earth is flat again, I can bike a really long time!

I think I have some plus 4 on my Ipod. Are you a band?

Hey, Wiley. Looks like you’re going to have to draw this storyline to a conclusion lest some of your clientele give themselves an aneurysm explaining how their point of view is right-right-right and if you a) dare to question what they believe or b) take umbrage at their questioning what you believe, you are an extremist nut-job. With the economy I’m sure you’d like to keep as much of your audience alive as possible…extremist nut-jobs or not.

I don’t expect people to suddenly accept reality based on postings on a comic strip. But I take heart at the fact that the Internet has allowed atheists to “come out of the closet” without the fear of social ostracization that we’ve had in the past. It’s not about waking up old people, who are probably too far gone, but it’s about making it acceptable for young people to think independently and know that they aren’t alone when they see that religion and all the different gods really seem absurd.

I predict it’ll probably take another 50 years for atheism to exceed the magic 50% level in the population. Mark my words, that will be the biggest thing that the Internet helps bring about. It’s much more difficult to remain in ignorance when communicating with so many different people, rather than the insulated communities of the past.

So while the ignorance such as what I see here is often disheartening, I know that there is a better day coming. Someday we’ll finally shake off the yoke of myths and legends.

EMET of the Bee Beard, you have taught us – almost taught– a new word, or a word new to me: chiastic. It’s not in my dictionary, but I assume it’s related to the Greek khiazein, “to mark with a Khi (letter X),” i.e., “to cross,” and especially to the past participle of khiazein, khiastos, “crossed. ” How this relates in the context of the conversation, though, in the sentence “Chiastic structure wins again!” is puzzling. Could you please finish the process of enlightening us? I’m new at this site, and this is the first commentary I have followed; but the cartoon itself certainly invited all kinds of spin-off – and got it!
