See the dog run. (Hear panting from the speaker and the clicking of toenails on the pavement).
See the dog bark. (A bark comes from the speaker.)
See the dog chase a car. (Brakes squealing and a grisly crunch).
See the dog at the vet’s. (Dogs barking and cats meowing in the background.).Unfortunately, I’ve run over a dog once. Fortunately it was not a lingering thing for it. No lights on the highway north of town, black pavement. Black dog walking down the lane away from me, so no eyeshine or other indication it was there. Hit the brakes, but it was far too late when I finally saw it. A reaaly yuckky series of sounds. Thwack! A couple of seconds of urrrrrrrrrr as it was dragged on the pavement and possibly was being smacked by something under the engine. Then another Thwack! as what was left of it fell loose. At least it didn’t suffer. Impact probably killed it outright.
