   If you go back to the Ritzi Ritz comics from years ago, you would see that he is a old flame of hers. Except his hair is now more blonde than red now.

   “Too many” = 48 years, according to Wikipedia. I don’t recall an actual story arc in “Nancy” before (as distinguished from a short run of thematically related strips).

   It was closer to a story strip in its early ‘Fritzi Ritz’ days. When Nancy became the star, the emphasis had already been shifting.
