    Actually, Lucas borrowed most of his ideas from Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Samurai movies, westerns, war movies and Space Battleship Yamato.

    Yes and no. Lucas tended to play up the Joe Campbell archetypical “Hero’s Journey” thing after “Star Wars” became a big hit, but it’s clear the first film owes a big debt to samurai flicks, particularly Kurosawa’s 1958 film “The Hidden Fortress.”
