Another Barney Fife or Ralph Monroe. Great sitcom cymbalists.

    I’ve gone Mutt & Jeff.

(Mutt and Jeff is Cockney rhyming slang for deaf!)

I was thinking of that when I posted my comment. Interestingly Zimbalist’s parents were quite musical. His father was a concert violinist and his mother was operatic soprano.

An extra-large bass drum is what the Cheyenne Symphony uses.

Percussionists have been referred to as the Mathematicians of the Orchestra because of all the counting they have to do.

I was the cymbalist when my Jr. High band did an arrangement of March Militaire in which I only played three times. I was so psyched for my first appearance that when I crashed, my sister in the flute section lost her place and the tympanist fell out of his chair.
