I was thinking of that when I posted my comment. Interestingly Zimbalist’s parents were quite musical. His father was a concert violinist and his mother was operatic soprano.
I was the cymbalist when my Jr. High band did an arrangement of March Militaire in which I only played three times. I was so psyched for my first appearance that when I crashed, my sister in the flute section lost her place and the tympanist fell out of his chair.
