It’s also the white guys in power that don’t want to fund birth control or even let anyone talk about it.

Racism is practiced by all bigots of any color who cannot fathom the concept of individuality.

We’re ALL human. But only the Left seem to see the difference of race.

When my best friend was alive, we were often the ONLY white people at some of the blues venues we went to. On one occasion, we were braced by a couple of young men, but were nearly instantly backed up by others in the crowd and the bass player.
Compliments to Masterkrain, & Dale Netherton for their comments.
@ PianoGuy24 – in Mississippi, from 1964 to 1972, there were stores where my black friends would not enter. Even after laws passed banning discrimination, blacks knew there were consequences in that small Mississippi town for thinking they could go where they pleased. It wasn’t liberals keeping them out of those stores. I would be the one to take the money in and buy what my friends wanted, and was told more than once that I shouldn’t be encouraging those young black people by the white storekeepers – they had other euphemisms for race.
If the left the only ones who see the difference in race, perhaps the conservatives are failing to see how race/class is still a barrier to success for too many of our fellow Americans. I disagree though. I know many black and latino conservatives and I assure you, they are well aware of race and the look and tone of racism.

Everybody will be in a minority group soon. So the majority will be a minority and the minorities the majority. You would think that race would less important in the future, but I worry that there will be more racists than ever because each race will think the other races are out to get them.

In the same time period you speak of it was the Right side of the aisle that got the civil rights passed, opposed by Al Gore Sr and the like.
And since I was not there, I feel like I have to pay for the past sins according to some. I can only speak for myself and what I believe. It’s NOT about race, it’s about how wrongly ANY body in EVERY race needs to stop classifying someone different than themselves in blanket statements that are derogatory.

“Oh dear! did they treat you as badly as white people have been treating people of color for the last few hundred years?”

So in your mind, two wrongs make a right?

I think your thinking is a little ahistorical here, and perhaps you are confusing parties with positions. The right, however packaged, has traditionally not been progressive on race. There was a time when Republicans were better on race than Democrats were, certainly a lot better than southern Democrats. But the southern Democrats at that time were not on the left. In fact, before the early 1960s, neither the Republicans nor the Democrats were very progressive on race. The Communist Party and the Socialist Party were a lot better — on race, at least. The movement by and large wasn’t aligned with any party. The Democrats had to be pushed against their will to take up progressive positions, and the Republicans under Nixon decided to play the Southern strategy instead.

    I generally agree, PianoGuy.
It would be nice to think that racism is gone, but it has gone from racism to ‘tribalism’. Geo Washington warned us of this.
The sins of the fathers are visited upon the sons, unto the 7th(?) generation, according to a book I read. Sounds about right if you look at recorded history. If a generation runs 16 to 30+ years, it can well take 150 years for a group of humans to drop a grudge. Takes some even longer.
You don’t have to feel responsible, but I suggest a heightened awareness when dealing with a culture who sees their history with the USA vastly different. A readiness to agree to disagree at the least, and a willingness to accept information if it can be confirmed as a truth with which you are unfamiliar. Sadly, that civility may not always be repaid in kind, and that offers its own challenges.
Thank you for the reply. It’s always good to find places on the path where there is agreement, even if a little bit.
Happily (talked to my kids today!)
    & Respectfully,

Just one more thing for the radical right to be afraid of. What IS “Latino”/“Hispanic” anyway as that population is tremendously “mixed” DNA-wise. Of course, the fact that all modern humans trace back to a black woman in eastern Africa, all bigotry, from all sides, is a tad insane.

Also, considering that 49% “minorities” in the younger generation coming up is made up of several different groups, all those “Caucasians” can relax a little if they look at numbers instead of fabricated percentages and statistics.
