At least he said “magazines” instead of “clips”. SOME information is leaking in.

Nobody blames doctors or the responsible users of pharmaceuticals for deaths related to illegal drugs, so why are so many trying to blame the NRA and responsible gun owners for gun crime?

@midaswelby
So by that logic, maybe we should be blaming the gun shop owners?

Maybe because the NRA forced the ending of the assault weapons ban through their political pressure? That seems directly responsible for the SCALE of the killings in Aurora, New Town, and so many other places. If the alcohol lobby forced states to retract drunk driving laws, would they share some blame for the huge increase in deaths, or would you protest that it’s only the fault of the drunks, and let the alcohol lobby get off morally pure?

Folks, I’m NOT getting into “Pro Gun” vs. “Anti Gun” today.
Please just try to remember, whatever your politics and feelings, that there are twenty families that have to bury their children on the week before Christmas!
Have a LITTLE compassion for them, please.

“Teachers stand up to gunmen, but Congress won’t stand up to the NRA,” say many people. There must be some sensible NRA members who will speak up and stand up for change in their organization’s position on reasonable gun regulation. Where are they?

Come on Mike,
Why the fascination with guns? Lets take a real look at what happened. 20 kids and 6 adult were killed. The tool was a gun in one of the most gun control regulated states. Could have been a machete? Can of Gasoline and a match? Next step the the Killer. Mentally ill, not on any medication, not on any mental health care plans. Not on any radar other than his mother knowing he had a problem and was" losing him". The schools, the neighbors, the communities? Next step the system. Why is there not in place, Mental health that would have addressed a " potential problem". Lets if we can assign “blame” to our government that have stripped the mental health community of the ability to function.

Yours is the question that needs a response from the members of the NRA. Who is the NRA, the members, or the gun makers? Past time for members to take control of their own organization.

The NRA isn’t being blamed for the tragedy. They’re being blamed for doing everything they can to prevent sane gun laws.

Jase99 ’sane gun laws" we have. Common sense is what is lacking now. No firearm or bladed weapon ever killed a person without another person using it. Here is an inconvenient truth, Chicago has the toughest gun control in the nation and the highest rate of gun related crimes.

As always the gun nut cowards try to blame mental health, not guns, for so many senseless killings. You morons don’t understand that guns make little people like you think they’re big people and that guns can solve problems instead of creating them.
I’m enjoying how scared silent the NRA is right now. I’m sure soon they’ll be wailing that Obama is going to take away all their guns.

Ah, the NRA compassion/evasion tactic!!!

@HOWGOZIT
The reason people blame the NRA is because of the vehemence with which the NRA pursues its principal cause: make sure anyone who wants a weapon can get it – even if they don’t really need it.
-
Pharmaceutical phirms, doctors and pharmacists do not want everyone to take drugs they don’t need.
-
The NRA has proven itself time and again to be purely irrational when it comes to the discussion of weapons – and what type of weapons people should be allowed to possess.
-
By the way, the constitution provides for the right to maintained a well-regulated citizen militia. I hear the NRA gripe about having arms. Where do they stand on the well-regulated militia issue?

Why do cowards demand that they be protected from anything and everything? Because they don’t take responsibility for themselves, and cannot fathom that there are those who bear their own responsibility with pride.
The second amendment only applies to private ownership of military weapons— without infringement— because they feared governments out of control more than anything else.
