Nobody blames doctors or the responsible users of pharmaceuticals for deaths related to illegal drugs, so why are so many trying to blame the NRA and responsible gun owners for gun crime?

“Teachers stand up to gunmen, but Congress won’t stand up to the NRA,” say many people. There must be some sensible NRA members who will speak up and stand up for change in their organization’s position on reasonable gun regulation. Where are they?

Come on Mike,Why the fascination with guns? Lets take a real look at what happened. 20 kids and 6 adult were killed. The tool was a gun in one of the most gun control regulated states. Could have been a machete? Can of Gasoline and a match? Next step the the Killer. Mentally ill, not on any medication, not on any mental health care plans. Not on any radar other than his mother knowing he had a problem and was" losing him". The schools, the neighbors, the communities? Next step the system. Why is there not in place, Mental health that would have addressed a " potential problem". Lets if we can assign “blame” to our government that have stripped the mental health community of the ability to function.

Jase99 ’sane gun laws" we have. Common sense is what is lacking now. No firearm or bladed weapon ever killed a person without another person using it. Here is an inconvenient truth, Chicago has the toughest gun control in the nation and the highest rate of gun related crimes.

Why do cowards demand that they be protected from anything and everything? Because they don’t take responsibility for themselves, and cannot fathom that there are those who bear their own responsibility with pride.

The second amendment only applies to private ownership of military weapons— without infringement— because they feared governments out of control more than anything else.

Latest asinine argument from the gun lobby: No use passing new guns laws, criminals disobey them.

We tried that with Prohibition, and got organized crime & NASCAR as a result. (And a stronger FBI, BATF, etc.)

What befuddles me is how those in favor of “stricter gun control laws” have no clue why the 2nd amendment to the Constitution is the one immediately following the one guaranteeing freedom of speech, assembly, & religion and how they can possibly misinterpret the phrase “…shall not be infringed…”

The framers of the Constitution had just fought a long, hard bloody war against their OWN unjust government. They knew that is could happen again, and felt that an armed responsible citizenry was the answer if GOVERNMENT got out of control again.

“Assault weapons/rifles” are necessary if one is to protect themselves from over aggressive police forces. The reason police chiefs are for gun control is they want a police state… one that’s full of easily controlled sheep.

I spent 25 years of my life protecting the Constitution from “all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC…” Unfortunatly I now consider most police, DA’s, judges, and congress as domestic enemies of that precious document.

“Ricochet” by Richard Feldman is a worthwhile read on the issue of the NRA and “gun lobby”.

I am with Omnius, the gun is the weapon of a coward. I am sick of the common arguments, it’s just a tool, yeah but while I can cave in your head with a hammer, I can also build something with one, guns are for killing, people can use gasoline, killers will use a bomb or a knife if there were no guns; how many people could the latest nutjob or the guy in the movies actually could have killed with an axe, bombs are also difficult to make, place, ETC. Also what about the “well regulated militia” part of the 2nd amendment, no militia no matter how whacko would have accepted these nuts, another idea how about hitting gun owners where it hurts in their wallet, allow a max number of weapons, say 3 and if you want more you get to pay a stitff tax on each one, funds to go directly to families of the dead or to wounded victims, as far as I am concerned all those who jammed the gun stores and shows the day after this latest kindermord might as well have pulled trigger themselves, I am surprised th

And as they ripped the guns from the GOOD girls and boys, the evil, nasty criminals danced through the woods….“On obama, on pelosi, on biden on reid…..shoot away shoot away all the innocents, we have all the guns and you have NONE!”

Yep you libtard idiot, even if you go to a country where guns aren’t allowed you regularly see knife masacres where lots of people die, or bombs…whatever. Evil uses what it has.

It’s totally true that guns don’t kill people, or at least rarely- about the only way you can kill someone with a gun is to beat them to death with it.There is no point in outlawing guns. They are out there, there are millions, they are made of metal and will last for a thousand years if they are kept oiled. Failing that, I could find materials in my basement that would produce a workable gun, and it doesn’t take much knowledge of the subject to figure out how to do it.BULLETS, on the other hand, are time consuming to make and require specific equipment. Production of enough to do serious damage would require planning and patience that are not characteristic of those who shoot up elementary schools. And, working on such a project might attract the attention of someone sane.Bullets can be individually stamped, and their sale can be registered and entered into a computer base. They can be tracked from production to use, so that every bullet can be traced back to the person who purchased it. This way, a guy who wants to buy a couple boxes of bullets to go shoot deer, or the woman who wants a box to keep with the gun in her bedside drawer, won’t set off any warning bells. But the guy who is buying an arsenal will attract attention before he finds a more lethal way to do it.
