    This patient is going to need drastic medical intervention to reverse the damage, as his current “Specialist” has been pumping poison in his veins for years…

    The “prez” has tied his socialism agenda with helping the economy. A rotten choice……..

    You couldn’t define socialism with a dictionary written in first-grade English.

    The Doc is already on the case. The patient has the dreaded O. bama virus which is in incubation until next November. Until that time, nothing will bring the patient out of the coma. But once the virus is vulnerable, it will be swiftly defeated and recovery can begin.

    “The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.” – John Kenneth Galbraith

    All the hullabaloo and finger pointing and self-righteous indignation on the right is simply this: I got mine and the hell with the rest of you.

    All business that prospers at least cost faces competition and works without government regulations. Contrast shoe manufactureres with the Post Office or Amtrak. Health care by the government was tried in Soviet Russia and didn’t work. It won’t work here either.

    @Dale Netherton

    There’s a whole bunch of crapp from Soviet Russia that didn’t work. Not because they were socialists, but because they were Neanderthals.

    In principle, the perfect non-socialist state would consist only of a centralized judicial system to manage internal disputes, and an active military to protect from external disputes. Everything else is a matter of semantics – which form of government control do you want to see?

    Pretty much everything else – schools, streets, mail, labor unions, taxes (other than voluntary flat tax and balanced budget) represents an infringement of personal liberties by governmental/social interest. People just have a tendency to call “Socialist” whatever gov’t intervention they don’t like.

    I would like to have health care affordable to everyone, so that everyone could be healthy enough to be productive. I like having a free school system that consists of well-trained and devoted teachers. I like having a social “net” that helps people from falling out of society because of factors beyond their control.

    I also expect people to be honest, productive and supportive of the society in which they live.

    And if you don’t like that society, get the &$(( out, and let the rest of us live in peace.

    Really? So his messages of wealth redistribution, govt controls and the rich being forced to give to the poor are not socialist?

    The government “getting out of the way” is what brought on the recession – letting banks and financial institutions get around regulations. When Citibank is fined multiple times for violations, yet they continue to violate the law, something is really wrong. Doing nothing, along with austerity programs, is what is making the mess worse. When business sits on its profits and will not expand because there is no demand, reducing the demand doesn’t make it better. Learn economics. The top 1% have seen their incomes increase the past 30 years; not so with the rest of us.

    I appreciate that there are varied services that one may wish to make public, but most of these were not public at one time. I also understand that you “like having a free school system that consists of well-trained and devoted teachers.” However, well-trained teachers are not free, they are paid for by someone. The question then arises as by whom they are paid, and more fundamentally, by whom their services are managed. I submit that federal management is very wasteful in comparison to local support, so perhaps we should do more to offload things from the feds.

    Government getting out of the way is not correct. There was an actual increase of 50,000 federal regulators under Bush – he was not free market at all.

    Wrong. What brought on the recession was the Community Reinvestment Act, signed by Clinton. It forced lenders to give bad loans to people who never had a chance in hell of paying, or face stiff penalties that would drive them out of business..

    If you’d turn off Maddow for 5 minutes and actually research the subject, you’d know that…
