Excellent news if this fantasy toon pans out . Soon everyone in SoCal won’t have to go down to TJ to get less expensive dentistry, medical treatments and especially visits to “El Farmacia”.

I don’t get this toon. You still have to pass the BAR exam to practice law and you still have to pass Med School and become certified by the state to practice medicine. Your legal status in this country shouldn’t dictate if you are a good doctor or not. This looks more like right wing hysteria where undocumented workers can practice without certifications and kill American Citizens (see illegal doctor diploma on right hand side) among other things.

We must prevent the foreigners taking jobs away from the US citizens who are practicing unlicensed medical care!!!

Clue to conservatives: California is doing a LOT better than Texas when it comes to medical care, where Perry blocked the Medicaid expansion that his citizens are paying taxes for, and 25% of the people are uninsured. The GOP plan of “attack the poor” would have a better future if they weren’t doing everything possible to create so many more of them.

I think the cartoon has a major fault in that it uses the word “immigrants” rather than “immigrant”. I don’t believe the suit was class action, rather it was one individual who has been in this country illegally for 20 years. The ruling may set a precedent in lawsuits that may follow that concern other professions and occupations. have not looked up the details, so feel free to correct me if I am in error.

Uh, for the “Spanish hysteria crowd”, most of those “illegal” docs are probably from India and either speak Hindi, or better English than the average TEA party type or xenophobe decrying “Keep the government out of my Medicare!”

Everyone here is missing the irony here. It’s NOT whether or not you’re a good or bad lawyer or doctor…It IS about working in the USA LEGALLY! And not only that, but a lawyer that’s supposed to help uphold the law is snubbing his nose at the very law he’s supposed to protect!

Once again: If you want fewer illegals, prosecute those who hire them.
O’ course, that would be Bad For Business.

Most of those in “advanced or technical” jobs are illegal because they overstay their visas, jus like many who come on student visas and fail to “depart”. Making better bucks in the U.S. isn’t a “political” decision on their parts. However, we had some computer techs from ’Nam who came here, were anxious to get home, where both the money they earned here, AND the training, would put them in a much higher “status” back home in Viet Nam, than they could get here..
