Dumb cartoon. This argument has been hammered on ad nauseum. It’s not very relevant on American’s list of important issues, like #9 out of 16 items on the latest Gallup Poll. Most are much more concerned with unemployment, weak economy, government ineptness, failing family structure etc. Obama and the minions in Congress seem to be able to get easily sidetracked away from issues American’s care about the most.

Mickey is right, as long as the hot button issues draw media and congressional attention, none of the really important issues will be resolved.

If the dog is really sentient, is really able to talk, and is of “legal age”, then – it has the right to decline to marry or have sexual relations with a human so it still wouldn’t happen.
It takes a human to come up with the really deviant ideas.
Marriage/civil union has to take place between two consenting adults of the same species. Children and animals are not legally able to consent and would be very like to NOT consent if given the choice.
Can we please move on to jobs, healthcare, and the environment?
    Thank you.

They can legally own guns in Lousiana after a recent state law was passed, and in Virginia and several other states, a criminal can buy a gun “legally” from private seller at gun shows or over the internet simply by not submitting to a background check. The fact they are not supposed to makes no difference

Criminals don’t obey laws so let’s do away with laws. Am I only one who finds that logic odd.

I think the point is to make the seller accountable. But I know I know … freedom America guns freedom guns America.

We need to do everything we can to ensure that the mentally unstable don’t get guns- except, of course, check to see if the guy buying a gun is mentally unstable.

Yes. It’s part of due process, as is protected by our Constitution. Running a background check on everyone for no reason is a violation of their privacy.

    @ pdchapin:
No, that’s not the logic being used. The logic is that passing more laws to try to get criminals to obey current ones is ridiculous. All that does is force more law-abiding citizens to obey more laws. Criminals aren’t obeying the current ones, so what makes you think they’ll obey new ones? Try enforcing what we have now before throwing more ink on paper.

We would all be better off if we ignored the trolls (Ms. Ima, HOWGOZIT, Gore Bane, Brandon, etc.) … all they do is spew the same one-and-two-line bulsit on each page — rants that get under the skin of right-minded people … consider that either (1) none of them care any more than to hit-and-run like most who spray grafitti on any blank space, and don’t really care what anybody thinks, or (2) some right-wing/Tea Party sugah dadda pays them to spew this garbage, making them low-life freeloaders, just as they accuse everybody who actually employs actual thought processes before posting on the Internet.

I would be VERY interested to see a DD214 proving more than three months of honorable service from any of these right-wing trolls … but I expect that could never happen …

Just a couple of cents from a 20-year USMC (Ret) who earned a master’s degree in something other than a redneck agenda …

This is a dead issue. Gun owners are so sure that any gun laws will lead to confiscation that no gun laws will be passed. As far as enforcing the ones we have…..look at the clauses “anonymously” added to the law that was passed to raise the debt ceiling. There you’ll find not only the free pass to Monsanto to do whatever they want with the world’s food supply regardless of result, and methods to make it more difficult for local law enforcement to communicate with ATF and vice versa.

The laws we have are being subverted to the point that the laws have no value. Sure, it would be nice to enforce them, but somehow some person or persons keep watering them into meaninglessness.

So, we need to accept that mass shootings (and five-year-olds shooting their younger siblings to death with “My First Gun”) will just have to be accepted as a consequence. Making sure there are no more restrictions means the carnage will continue.

In the meantime, I’m going into the Kevlar-for-kids business. It’s a growth industry.
