Which still won’t prevent Sandy Hook.

Well if you’re not a cop or a soldier when you shoot someone, there’s a pretty good chance you’re going to become a criminal. What’s the point here?

If America wasn’t so good at exporting 6 million guns in 2012 then maybe the criminals wouldn’t import these badboys back to the states and commit crimes with them. More guns = More crime period! Legal or otherwise.

David, follow the logic. The second amendment ( the law of the land) says that every citizen ( a definition of militia being the current number two Merriam-Webster definition) of an age to be in the military has a right to own weapons.

Socialists (from the web page of the Socialist Party USA) stand for:

We stand for unconditional disarmament by the United States.

We support federal buyout programs for arms, federal safety standards and licensing for arms, and community-based public training for gun owners.

I have no problem with the second thing but how do you unconditionally disarm an entire country and still have guns in a home owners possession?

As it stands now, if you adhere to current laws in your state you have the right to own weapons. Socialists want to take that right away. So the deerflatener (what cubed venison?) is right….sort of.

You give Mr. Flatener too much credit. For instance, he states that socialists want to “take guns from law-abiding citizens while allowing criminals to keep their guns”. Your quote from the Socialist Party’s website doesn’t say anywhere that guns are okay only for criminals.

A second example would be the idea that criminals have “supporters on the left”.

The last is the tired idea that criminals don’t obey the law, therefore the idea of having laws is counterproductive.

I submit that he is trying his best to become Head Troll. Good luck, Mr. Flatener. You have much established competition.

    Yes, criminally insane.

I would argue the popular consensus is not in fair of “limitations,” but in background checks. They aren’t the same.

But answer me this: First, what the hell is a bus bunny? It doesn’t make any sense in the current context.

Secondly, how would your suggestions stop the situation that happened in Sandy Hook? She legally owned the firearm. She legally purchased the firearms. She wasn’t a threat. Her son was.

So does this mean you support guilt by association? How do you background check that? How broadly do you cast your net? Immediate family? Relatives? Neighbors? Because there is absolutely nothing being proposed today that would have prevented Sandy Hook.

Except one, which is frequently discarded because of its source: Provide armed security at each school. There are a lot of veterans who are out of work who would love the opportunity to do that. We enlist not because of the money or the benefits; we enlist because we believe in protecting our country. And we have a unique level of training that ensures we actually know what the hell we’re doing.

We have all this chatter about preventing firearms from entering the hands of criminals, but none of the proposals will do that. We could have a national gun registry, and it still wouldn’t stop it; it’s not like a criminal is going to register his firearm before he uses it! All the proposed legislation is going to do is make it harder for law-abiding citizens from getting weapons.

If or when a sort of check like this is required, registry is mandated, you can bet your bottom dollar there are a lot of us who will refuse to comply. If or when I get a firearm, I will not be part of a national database so the government can pinpoint who has weapons. That is the first step towards a tyranny.

So going into a school and shooting a bunch of children doesn’t qualify him as a criminal?

At least he recognizes it is the high magazine capacity SHORT BARREL AND CONCEALABLE firearms the NRA defends that are most favored by “criminals”, NOT long rifles.

BtW, as noted elsewhere, I once arrested my “most dangerous” criminal BECAUSE he had a loaded and concealed weapon where it was illegal to have it. Had I and my partner not been alert, he likely would have killed at least one, if not both of us, at a “routine” car stop.

Yes, criminals are such because the disregard the law, but if the law allows, instead of forbids, law enforcement from taking reasonable actions to regulate weapons and possession thereof, we’d all be safer and better off.

    Dude are you serious?

Tell me one single law, just one that your friendly neighborhood gangbanger/drug dealer/gun runner/criminal of any description decides to wake up one morning and say to himself, “SELFTODAY I am going to obey all the laws and turn in every gun I have. WHY? Because they made that law too tough to ignore……yep….got me scared……gotta toe the line NOW by god.

You don’t have to agree with the truth. But I have to point it out to you anyway. You are warned and informed. Criminals do not obey the law. Yeah, I know…shocking isn’t it?

Consequently, when you take guns away from those that willingly obey laws then only those that do not obey laws – i.e. criminals – have them. See, ‘cause they didn’t obey the law and turn them in.

Sort of like in Australia that has seen a 69% increase in armed robbery since they confiscated all the guns …. oH they took the guns? Yeah but *armed” robbery increased …69%. Duh, how did that happen.

David, my brother, we live in a republic. I know what it is. As for socialism and the Socialist Party not being comparable…well…. you got me there. Who woulda’ thunk it?

Did you read the party platform? Pretty much echos your explanation of socialism.
