Now if Congress would get off their lazy butts and actually WRITE a budget, like we elected them to do…

But no. It’s much more important to keep the NRA happy.

Remember, Obama had control of the House and Senate during the first 2 years. And no buget was written then. The House has written bugets for the past 2 years but Obama will not pass it.

Odd that you didn’t reply about the the first part of wolfhounblues1’s post. What is the reason for not having a budget while the democrats had control of the white house, the house, and the senate?

So, this means that you must be able to prove you’re a good athlete to be able to budget properly?

Let’s take a look at all the professional athletes who earned a gazillion dollars and are now broke.

    Silly idea for a ’toon.

I agree, and wish that Harry Reid would allow the House-passed budgets to be discussed and voted on in the Senate. This is the only way the Senate will be able to vote the House budget down, or perhaps modify its excesses. A bad bill is a bad bill, but should still be voted down, rather than shelved.

The other night I decided to get wild and watch both MSNBC and Fox. First I watched Rachel Maddow, who is a good commentator but was stuck on one republican hater story after another. Switch to Bill O’Rielly on Fox, who was stuck on one “looney liberal” story after another.

The entire experience was equal in time and lasted a total of a half hour. My head was throbbing from all the hater rhetoric put forth by both sides.

Then it was back to the History Channel followed up by a couple of hours of “How Stuff Works.” I finally dozed off and felt like my mind had been restored to saner levels…

Please you and Mr. King explain it then.

The President – by law is required to submit a budget proposal between the first Monday in January and the first Monday in February. So far, Obama has met that obligation …. zero times. By March, the CBO is to publish an analysis. (gee can’t do that if he doesn’t make the proposal on time)

Congressional consideration of the federal budget begins once the President of the United States submits a budget request.

The United States House Committee on the Budget and the United States Senate Committee on the Budget then draft a budget resolution.

Once both houses pass the resolution, selected Representatives and Senators negotiate a conference report to reconcile differences between the House and the Senate versions (I believe this is where we are now). The conference report, in order to become binding, must be approved by both the House and Senate.

In general, funds for federal government programs must be authorized by an “authorizing committee” through enactment of legislation. Then, through subsequent acts by Congress, budget authority is then appropriated by the Appropriations Committee of the House.

So, the House has done their part each year. The Senate has not and – in fact – has refused to even consider what the House proposed.

So once again what is it that we do not understand?

I’ve found the PBS, and the BBC news to be more restful. Fareed Zakaria, the Indian-American journalist on CNN, the Fareed Zakaria GPS to be fair and even handed, without all the wild eyed, hair-pulling and jumping about! He cuts to the chase, and puts things in a balanced perspective!

How to budget? Really? Start with a multi-trillion dollar deficit and go from there. You have two terms to do it in. Good luck. And, oh, by the way, you get no help from those who handed you that economic fiasco.

I bet you haven’t watch the “Faux News” for more than ten seconds! Closed minded Libs are murdering this country
    .
Watching Fox News is agony for anybody with the capacity to think independently. I monitor their shennaigans via sites like Crooks and Liars and Fox News (“We Watch FOX So You Don’t Have To”).
    .
Closed minded, you say? If you can’t change your mind, are you sure you still have one. Conservative brains cannot accept empirical evidence as facts, and so are easily manipulated by tghe Republican propaganda organ.
