"Editorial cartoons should be smart and substantive, provocative and informative. They should stir passions and deep emotions. Editorial cartoons should be the catalyst for thought, and frankly speaking, if you can make politicians think, that is an accomplishment in itself."

This should come as no surprise: he was only a junior senator for 4 months before becoming president. Duh!

Actually, I’m a believer in the old American maxim that anyone can become President if he tries (with ability to handle the job not a rare gift). But Obama has been shown to be limited by his abilities; and especially by his rarified ideology. It seems to be the malady of all politics: the special interest slant is both the electable quality and the quality that most causes dissension. It looks like a good politician would be one who’s quality of ethics allows him to be virtuous and objective; an ability to transcend the limitations of politics.

well said Blazin’ Do you have favorite politicos whom you feel indeed transcend the limitations of politics?

No. But then politics and the American government is only a system for representing power strategies; not a vehicle for instituting what is ethical and “right.” I think the Founding Fathers wanted it that way.
