Yeah, Lila, I’m with you on this one … for the time being.

Keep in mind that this comic’s world is NOT the real world.
Lila has earned a reputation for being “easy”. Matthew apparently has not yet indicated that he’s interested in a physical relationship, or they’d be having one. Lila should find out why.

While that’s valid reasoning, even in comic world there are guys who are not in a rush to get physical. However, my guess here is that the doc isn’t so much gay as a mamma’s boy (possibly asexual) – and he wants to replace mama with Lila.

P4 made me laugh. Lets not forget that is the purpose of a comic strip.

I know it’s a comic, but all the blatant stereotyping is getting tiresome. I’m not offended, but neither is it funny—which is what a comic is supposed to be.

Hi Davanden. If it isn’t funny, then I HAVE failed. The goal through all the subject matter is to make you smile. Granted, however, I may not be able to do it every day ;-)

I also, admittedly, love stereotypes. I think there is some truth to them, which is why they’re around to begin with, and the exaggeration of that truth make me laugh!

A guy can show physical attraction and interest without “jumping all over” a girl. If he makes absolutely no moves in that direction, he may be playing for the other team. It’s not a certainty, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

Exactly…! This is why I like this comic so much, not so much as for the content only but because of the status of the author of the comic..which makes the content absolutely hilarious…did that make sense?

Right on, John! Stereotypes DO exist for a reason. It’s still a good idea for the average Joe to combat them, since perpetuating them tends to perpetuate the reason they exist. But a humorist normally opens his audience’s eyes to problems through irony, parody, and other forms of humor, not through moralizing or debunking.

Marrying a gay doctor would be ideal for Lila. They can (fill in the gap) together.

@JWF
I don’t like stereotypes simply because they are simple and often wrong. They exist but to template it to a single uniform group is also wrong. But that is just me.
I see where this is funny and it is funny. Why I like this strip and read it every day.

Not gay, but asexual. They exist as do sex maniacs. At the far fringes of a group.

Does Davanden crack up to Rex Morgan every day? Or even Doonsbury? Not every comic will make you snort milk/coffee/diet coke/whatever out your nose every single day.
