    The fact that Matthew didn’t get upset….
    not then, and not the night his mother first went to the hospital….
    that’s a bad sign to me.

    Well, and the fact that the only thing she loves about him is his income.

    Correction: I’m sorry, of course she loves other things about him… like his house…. and his savings and his possible inheritance.

    Understand 100%, Matthew. Some people the world is better off without, family or not.

    Maybe Lila can get a discount on a wedding-funeral combo.

    @SusanSunshine

    I would say Matthue sees this a way to be his own man for a change. Also even with all that money an luxury he offers Lila isn’t exactly fawning over him is she? In fact she seems cold an indifferent to it. No love, no hot passion, no fire works for her. Like being with a cold fish.

    Night-Gaunt that’s the point…. she’s not in love with him at all,
    and she can’t bring herself to play the adoration game,
    not even to get his money.

    Yet she told him she’d marry him….
    and it certainly wasn’t for passion.

    I’m just waiting for Mathew’s mother to meet Lila’s mother. Now that will be interesting….

    Some marriages of convenience (read: for money) are quite honest and solid … no romance but no illusions either, just a friendly mutual business proposition. Lila may not be as dumb as some readers think she is.
