Wonder how many legislators actually served, served in combat or reservists?

@Dycel
OR, how many CHILDREN of Legislators served…

Yep. At least Obama knows what he knows, and appoints people who fill out his gaps in experience. None of the Iraq war chicken-hawks, and almost none of the neo-con “let’s attack Iran” people are veterans. Although I guess McCain proves that experience in war doesn’t mean a sense about when war is appropriate.

McCain used to be anti-war. I’m not sure what happened to him. Either he was bought or had some kind of aneurism and now just parrots what he’s told to say.

G. W. F. Hegel’s philosophy can be summed up by the dictum that “the rational alone is real”, which means that all reality is capable of being expressed in rational categories.
.
A peaceful revolution is possible according to Hegel when the changes required to solve the crisis are ascertained by thoughtful insight and when this insight spreads throughout the body politic

I think Hagel was a good choice, because he can handle the responsibilities of the positon, and because as a Republican, he’ll get more GOP support with his less hawkish positions than any Democrat could.

On a related topic, google USS Liberty, the US Navy ship clearly flying the US flag in international waters on a bright sunny day in the Mediterranean sea on 8 June 1967.

The ‘toon has it right, and America needs to STOP listening to chickenhawks, whether on Afghanistan, Iran, or Israel. We have WAY too many of them in Congress. BTW, Biden’s son was in Iraq. I don’t have a problem with those like Obama who’ve served in other ways, IF they work at getting us OUT of wars, sadly he’s not doing it fast enough, but at least working on it. He now needs to tell Republicans and AIPAC, and Nutty-yahoo, we will NOT attack Iran, but we WILL attack anyone who does!
Iran sucks, yes, their government that is, but Netanyahu and Likud are worse, and have nuclear weapons. Let Iran have the fuel for nuclear power plants, remove the weapons grade material they might produce, and let’s buy their oil, as they originally proposed, and let them stop burning it for fuel in electrical generation. Heck, let’s run the reactors fOR them!
