As editorial cartoonist for The Journal News in New York, Davies cuts to the chase on every major issue, deftly penetrating the spin and obfuscation to show readers what’s really at the heart. His caustic wit combines with a strong moral sensibility to render the complex comprehensible.

And just think of the good that could have been done with that money…infrastructure repairs, or improved equipment for some schools, or being able to hire more teachers…or even just putting some of it towards the debt…

^Yes, but likewise, most of what’s spent on “defense”, and the cost of “tax breaks” could do even more good if spent on infrastructure repairs, and at home in other areas than what “Boehner and the boys” want.

At the risk of repeating myself (from yesterday), I am terrified that Obama will appoint illiterates to the Supreme Court.
The Roberts court was able to read the article in the US Constitution that clearly states that corporations are people, but I am afraid that Obama’s appointees won’t be able to read, and will think that the sacred US Constitution has no such article, and will remove the sacred personhood from corporations.
The horror. The horror.

Half of that is from Obama’s union, Holywood, billionaire, foreign donations.

Wrong. Money did not trump votes. And Trump did not produce a single vote.

Waaaay back in the nineties, Newt’s ‘Contract with America’ prominently included campaign financing reform.
-
When asked what happened to it after Republicans were elected to majorities, he just shrugged and said ‘It didn’t get any votes.’
-
Since Republicans always have a money advantage, they will always obstruct campaign reform.

No need to get the money out of politics. Just place reasonable limits on the powers of the government and the money will go elsewhere by itself. The waters will recede.

Damn right! First on my list is FEMA — who needs all these goody two shoes breaking into flooded homes to haul out the living and the dead — and withtout warrants!! What’s on your list?

So the billionaires paid millions of dollars to elect politicians who would save them from having to pay thousands of dollars in taxes.
What’s wrong with this picture?

Great point. They’re either dumb or there’s more to it than we can even imagine

Citizens United — the Supreme Court’s worst mistake, it left “We the People” in a wasteland. The rich have more representation than the other 99% combined, all due to money and politics.
