Davies summed it up pretty well with the toon. Hopefully the republicans will get their head out of their archaic program and embrace the future. Otherwise they will be a constantly declining influence in America.

Brought a tennis racket to a football game? Ok, it wasn’t that bad, but the GOP foolishly believed their own propaganda (or listened only to what they chose to believe), to the extent they’re still trying to get an instant replay.

    Tennis or Squash Raquet?
    .
The football field seems a bit wrong in that a goodly percentage of AWM who vote R are NFL fans. Squash players are more likely old line Republicans and Dems. Tennis seems to be a lefty sport.
    .
It might be more like he shows up for football on a soccer field, although that’s not visually striking.
    .
Maybe if he were wearing a football uniform at a gynastics (or volleyball) meet (game).
    .
The idea is right, the depiction is probably the clearest juxtapositioning. It goes to show me just how hard it is to make a truely great cartoon.
    .
Maybe Golf at a soccer stadium.

I think the Republicans main mistake was running a candidate with all of the personal appeal of Bob Dole or Al Gore.

There aren’t that many millionaires… the middle class is begininng to realize the Republican Party hates everyone but white males who make more than $500k a year.

Oh, for Pete’s sake. Obama got more electoral votes than any Republican candidate since 1988. He won. And if Bush claimed a mandate, Obama has one. The GOP lost the popular vote for president, senate, and it turns out, the house of representatives too. Only gerrymandering kept them in power there.

    @ARodney

Hey, everyone. A mandate is the one chosen for a particular task. Not an overwhelming majority of voters casting their ballots for one candidate. If 100 votes are cast, the one who receives 51 has the mandate. No different than if 75, or 98 were cast for the candidate. Look it up.

And the Tea Party fails to reform and retake the Republican Party, thus cinching the loss of the election for the Republican Party because people don’t want the entrenched establishment to remain the entrenched establishment.

If the GOP only had some balls they’d have a clue as to what they should do.

The cartoon should also have a donkey there with a baseball bat.
